PURPOSE:To attain check of picture element number with less number of components by using a decoding function as a part of check function at relay to a CPU in a facsimile controller and using it as a decoding means at relay from the CPU. CONSTITUTION:In relaying a data to the CPU from any FAX, a control section 20' activates a one-dimensional/two-dimensional decoder 23b', which executes the decoding in the timing attended with the contro of the control section 20' in the check of picture element number in addition to the decoding superimposing a picture signal and its additional information to a picture memory section 22.
