摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent the decrease of a gap between a shaft and its bearing due to the thermal expansion by fixing a cylindrical member around the shaft so that a ring-shaped space may be formed between them and by inserting this cylindrical member into a bearing with the prescribed gap and supplying pressurized air into this gap. CONSTITUTION:In supporting a shaft 19, which connects a turbine 1 of the turbo- charger to an impeller 2 of the compressor, freely rotable, this shaft 19 is inserted into a bearing hole 21 of a journal bearing 20 which is fitted in a center housing 5. At this time, on the shaft 19, a cylindrical member 22 consisting of a cylindrical portion 23 to constitute a journal of the shaft 19 and its side face plate 24 is fitted. On the other hand, on the bearing 20, many air feed holes 27 are formed with a constricted portion 29 at the tip of each hole, and a gap 31 is formed between the outer surface of the bearing 20 and the inner surface of the center housing 5. This gap 31 is connected to the air feed hole 27. In this way, the compressed air is supplied to this gap 31 through an air supply pipe 32 and the cylindrical member 22 and the shaft 19 are floated and supported.
