PURPOSE:To obtain InP compound accurately keeping the stoichiometric composition, by feeding P from an ampule to molten In in a crucible, and determining the end point of the synthesis by measuring the increase in the weight of the crucible. CONSTITUTION:A load cell 10 is attached to the lower end of the shaft 2 holding the crucible 1, and the weight of the content of the crucible 1 is moitored by the load cell. The weight of the molten liquid in the crucible 1 increases with the infusion of P in In, and the molar ratio of In to P aproaches 1:1. To terminate the reaction when the molar ratio of In to P reaches 1:1, the synthesis is continued while measuring the weight increase of the crucible 1 by the load cell 10 until the weight increase reaches a preliminarily calculated level. The end point of the synthesis can be detected accurately by this process. Accordingly, the insufficient or excessive infusion of P in the molten In can be prevented and the molar ratio of In to P in the synthesized InP becomes accurately 1:1. |
