PURPOSE:To enhance the fuel efficiency of a kerosene internal-combustion engine, by causing a compressed mixture in a main combustion chamber to flow into an auxiliary combustion chamber toward a spark plug, and performing spark ignition to quickly burn the mixture, and injecting the high-temperature expanding combustion gas into the main combustion chamber through plural communication holes, to suppress knocking. CONSTITUTION:In the compression process in which a piston 5 ascends, a portion of a sucked mixture in a main combustion chamber M flows into an auxiliary combustion chamber A through communication holes 18, 19. Near the end of the compression process, the mixture near an electrode in the auxiliary combustion chamber A is ignited by sparks on a spark plug P so that a portion of the flame of the combustion of the mixture quickly jets into the main combustion chamber M through the communication holes 18, 19 toward the top of the piston 5. At the same time, the flame in the auxiliary combustion chamber A propagates inwards therein so that the rise in the temperature in the chamber A is increased. The combustion gas in the auxiliary combustion chamber A further continues to expand and jets into the main combustion chamber M through the communication holes 18, 19 to burn the unburned mixture in the chamber. The combustion of the mixture in the main combustion chamber is thus accelerated and completed. According to this constitution, knocking is suppressed and the compression ratio is heightened. |
