A cloth made of palladium or of palladium-based alloy, employed for the recovery of platinum which has been volatilised when hot in catalytic reactions and more particularly during the reaction of ammonia oxidation using atmospheric oxygen, characterised in that it consists of wires forming a cloth which has an ovalised cross-section. The invention also relates to a process for platinum recovery in which at least one of the said cloths is employed.
