PURPOSE:The titled polyester fiber that has a plurality of slit-like grooves which continue in the lengthwise direction with their depth and width satisfying specific conditions, thus being dyeable in satisfactorily deep tone. CONSTITUTION:Two kinds of polyester polymers different in solubility in alkali 9, 10 are subjected to conjugate spinning, drawn, and treated with alkali for weight reduction to remove a part of the polyester more soluble in alkali 10 to give the objective fiber which has at least 5 slit-like grooves which extend in the lengthwise direction and satisfy simultaneously the equations 1/4R<=L<=3/4R (R is the diameter of the fiber with the same cross-section area as this fiber; L is depth of the grooves) and W<=1/3L (W is width of the grooves). Incident light 1 is reflected at the groove 4, the reflected light is further reflected at another groove 4 to give a color of deep tone. |
