In electrical household appliances with devices for the input of process parameters, for the control of internal processes, and for the indication of parameters and process faults which should be monitored, the problem arises that the surface on the front side of the household appliance designated for input and indication devices is not sufficiently large when the control is expanded. The invention solves this problem in that the input and indication device 7 is accommodated in a housing 8 stored in a cavity 9 and flush with the front surface of the household appliance in the operating position. Its surface which is visible in the operating position contains only the most essential indicating elements. After the housing has been pulled out from the cavity, further surfaces are visible above and below, and these can contain the input buttons 11 and/or further indicating elements 12,13 which are required only for the input process. <IMAGE>
