PURPOSE:The titled controlling agent that contains, as an active ingredient, a specific imide derivative, thus showing strong effect on soil diseases caused by a variety of phytopathogenic microorganisms such as fusarium, e.g., tomato Fusarium wilt, raddish Fusarium yellow, cucumber wilt or cotton damping-off. CONSTITUTION:An acid imide of formula I [X, Y are O, S, imino; Z is cycloalkylene, cycloalkenylene, bicycloalkylene, arylene or lower alkylene which may be substituted with hydroxyl, lower alkoxy, aryl, methylene or alkylidene or lower alkenylene which may be substituted with halogen, carboxyl or aryl or -A-R- (X is X, Y; R is lower alkylene)], which is obtained, e.g., by reaction between 2-cycloheptenylamine and 0.9-1.0 equivalent amount of a compound of formula or its anhydride (formula II), is used as an active ingredient and the controlling agent is used by applying it to crop fields, rice plant paddies, orchards, tea plant fields, mulberry fields, etc.
