<p>A method of reforming hydrocarbons and in particular dehydrocyclizing alkanes is disclosed wherein the hydrocarbons, e.g. alkanes, are contacted with a catalyst containing a large-pore zeolite, a Group VIII metal, and an alkaline earth metal, the Selectivity Index of the catalyst being greater than 60% and/or the process conditions being adjusted so that the selectivity for n- hexane dehydrocyclization is greater than 60%. The catalyst is preferably a type L, X or Y zeolite containing 0.1 to 5% by weight of platinum and 0.1 to 35% by weight of barium, strontium or calcium.</p> |
