PURPOSE:To bestow photographic characteristics of ultrahigh contrast by forming at least one emulsion layer contg. silver halide grains of <=150nm diameters on a support, and incorporating a compd. represented by a specified general formula in said emulsion layer or another constituent layer. CONSTITUTION:A silver halide photosensitive material is prepared by forming on a support, at least one of photosensitive silver halide emulsion layers contg. silver halide grains of <=150nm diameters, and this layer or at least one of other constituent layers incorporates a compd. represented by general formula ( I ) in which R1 is optionally substd. aryl; R2 is H or aryl, alkyl, alkoxy, or aryloxy, said four being optionally substd.; and G is carbonyl, sulfonyl, sulfoxy, phosphoryl, or the like. |
