The device makes it possible to avoid the transfer of run-off oil along the walls of hermetically sealed tanks from shut-down compressors to a functioning compressor. The device comprises a manifold (30) for equalizing oil levels. The tanks (E1, E2, E3) of the compressors (C1, C2, C3) are connected in parallel by means of sections (31, 32, 33) of the manifold (30) protruding horizontally into the interior of the tanks (E1, E2, E3 ...) through a vertical wall. The said sections are located at a level above, or the same as, all the other parts of the manifold. Application to refrigeration plants with compressors in parallel. <IMAGE>
