PURPOSE:To quickly resume the winding of a sheet, by sticking the cut-off end of the sheet to a new winding shaft while displacing a fully wound sheet roll to a takeout mechanism such as a crane, to prepare for the return of a winding arm. CONSTITUTION:When a roll R of a sheet S fully wound on a winding shaft C is slightly moved from a touch roller 1 to a takeout position B, a winding shaft bearer 3 holding a new winding shaft C' is displaced from a stand-by position to a winding start position between the touch roller and the sheet roll R to tighten the rear portion S' of the sheet S and push the rear portion on the touch roller 1. the rear portion S' is cut off by a cutter 4 waiting opposite the winding shaft bearer 3 along the touch roller, in such a manner that the cut-off end of the rear portion S' is located near the new winding shaft C'. As the fully wound sheet roll R is displaced to a takeout mechanism such as a crane hook, the cut-off end of the sheet S is stuck to the new winding shaft C' so that the winding of the sheet is resumed as soon as a winding shaft support 2 is returned.
