PURPOSE:To enable easy escape of a passenger, by a method wherein, after a braking device for a seat belt is operated during emergency, the belt is released from braking through external control. CONSTITUTION:A lock actuating device 20, when an inertia force is exerted, perceives the inertia force and causes a lock member 22 to spring up to the upper part from the lower part within a fan-shaped hole 19. In which case, the lock member 22 is engaged with ratch teeth 14b of a spool 14 to prevent a wind-up reel from rotating in a direction in which a webbing is pulled out. When tension is exerted on the webbing 15 by a passenger, a rotary chair 26 is lifted up along an oblong hole formed in the side of a swing arm 36 against the energizing force of a spring 27, and the rotary chair 26 is geared with a holdfast part 36a to prevent the webbing from being pulled out. With the upper end of the arm 34 rotated by the passenger, the lock member 22 is released from gearing with the ratch teeth 14b of the spool 14, and a rotor 26 and the arm 36 are also released from engagement therebetween, resulting in the possibility to freely pull out the webbing 15. |
