PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of printing marks in operation of a printer which prints single pieces of paper in a condition in which a continuous form is set by rotating the platen for a fixed quantity of the continuous form also. CONSTITUTION:When the single piece of a slip 6 is detected by a sensor 26, a control unit 8 changes a switch 14 to Y side and a frequency divider 13 is set at a frequency dividing ratio, for instance, of such as to carry 1/120inch of a continuous form 5 at each time for a new line of the single piece of the slip 6, and the single piece of the slip 6 is carried for 1/6inch in the (b) direction and the continuous form 5 is carried for 1/20inch in the (c) direction by a motor 2 respectively for each new line. And when printing of the single piece of the slip is over, the single piece of the slip 6 is carried in the reverse of (b) direction and at the time when the tail of the piece is detected by the sensor 26, the switch 14 is changed over to X side and the control unit 8 sets a motor control section 9 at a value of a counter 15 and the rotation of a motor 1 is reversed to return the continuous form 5 to the original position. Thus, an occurrence of printing marks on a continuous form is prevented and a waste of paper is eliminated.
