A thermostat element (1) for heater valves has a capsule (2) and a corrugated tube bellows (5). The capsule (2) has a gas filling, and has between the outer circumferential wall (3) and the corrugated tube (6) an internal circumferential wall (10) which is permeable to gas. The annular space between the two circumferential walls (3, 10) is filled with an adsorbing agent (15). There is produced in this way a thermostat element in which the pressure in the temperature working range and the gradient of the temperature/pressure characteristic can be selected very freely. <IMAGE>
