The invention relates to a roller blind for vehicle windows, in particular the rear windows of motor vehicles, with a curtain which can be wound up on a shaft and is provided at its free end with a reinforcement strip. In order to be able to actuate the roller blind automatically, there is provision for the shaft to be arranged in a housing close to the lower edge of the window, for at least one guide rail to protrude upwards on the housing, in which rail a slide which can be connected to the reinforcement strip is guided in a sliding fashion, for an elastic energy store which is connected to the slide to be provided, which energy store moves the slide and thus the curtain upwards and for the shaft to be driven by an electric motor which moves the curtain downwards counter to the action of the energy store and winds it up onto the shaft.
