A burner control and safety device in which a valve is held open during operation by the current produced by a thermoelectric device, has a valve with seat 20 and a valve member 18 urged against it by a spring 19, the valve being opened by pressure on a button 21 having a push-rod 22 carrying a main valve member 24 which co-operates with a seat 27 and allows only ignition gas to flow to an ignition burner where it is ignited, heats the thermoelectric device and causes the valve member 18 to retain its open position when the button 21 is released, an " off " button 34 having a push-rod 35 which when depressed strikes a lever arm 33 to release valve member 18, the arrangement being such, however, that depression of button 21 to open the valve again has no effect until the armature plate 14 of the valve solenoid is released by the cooling of the thermo-electric element. The coupling between the valve stem 17 and valve member 18 is by means of a hairpin spring 41.</p> |
