PURPOSE:To raise the quality of a tire product and obtain exact measured values in a short time of measurement by a method in which the outer perimeter length of a tire molding drum is detected on the basis of the varying amount of a detection link mechanism. CONSTITUTION:The piston rod of a cylinder is retreated by as much as a necessary stroke, whereupon an intermediate shaft 11 goes to right and each drum segment is moved radially to the axis to expand the diameter of the drum body. A detection link mechanism 44 operates in an interlocking manner with the link mechanism, or a slider 40 slides radially to the axis. In the detection link mechanism, the ratio of the long link 36 to the short line 41 is 2:1 for the effective portions, and since the continuation point of the short link to the long link is at the central part of the effective portion of the long link, the sliding distance of the slider 40 equals to the distance of the drum segment, and the distance of the slider is converted to a turning angle by calculation.
