A planting tower (10) with improved watering property has a water collecting bowl (14) which supports an upright growth region (16). This has an inner tube part (36) and an outer tube part (38), between which a plant growth medium can be introduced. The growth region (16) is located on a bottom wall (50) provided with openings (58) which allow the flowing off of water from the growth medium into the water collecting bowl (14) lying below it. The uppermost edge (23) of the water collecting bowl (14) lies below the bottom wall (50) so that the drainage water has no contact with the perforated bottom wall (50) and thus a back-moistening of the growth medium (46) is prevented. ……
