PURPOSE:To elevate the utilization efficiency of an ink donor sheet by controlling the conveying operation thereof detecting color in the ink-coated area to eliminate the area for identifying the ink boundary. CONSTITUTION:There is so small a clearance not to mix ink on the boundaries of ink-coated areas 41, 42 and 43 of various colors in an ink donor sheet 31. While the ink donor sheet 31 is being conveyed, a color hue identification means 45 provided in a heat transfer type recorder continueo to monitor the color of the ink-coated areas in the ink donor sheet 31. As the boundaries of the ink- coated areas pass in front of the means, the output signal of a decision circuit 46 changes before and after it. A controller 47 captures the change and provides a command to a conveyance controller 38 to stop the conveyance of the ink donor sheet 31 after a specified time. Thus, a transfer operation is repeated for different colors sequentially to perform a multicolor recording on an object 34 to be recorded. The color hue identification means may employ various semiconductor color sensors. |
