A rotor for a gas turbine engine or steam turbine has an annular row of blades 12 and each blade has a tip shroud 11 including a passage 16 extending circumferentially of the rotor and circumferentially aligned with the passages of adjacent blades. There are clearances between the shrouds of adjacent blades and a flexible elongate member or members, e.g. a wire or wires, in the passages 16 of the shrouds constitutes a frictional connection between the blades to inhibit relative vibration. The wire receiving passages may be provided in lugs (20), Fig.3 (not shown), projecting outwardly from the shrounds. Wires may be provided in two passages (31), Fig. 5 (not shown), of each shroud axially spaced in the rotor axial direction.
