PURPOSE:A recording liquid, containing a novel monoazo based dye as a recording agent, having improved recording characteristics, storage stability, fixing properties to a material to be recorded, and giving recorded images having improved light, weather and water resistance, and suitable as a method of flying the solution as droplets from an outlet for recording. CONSTITUTION:A recording liquid containing preferably 0.1-20wt% dye expressed by formula I [Q is formulas II-IV (R is H, lower alkyl, nitro, halogen, -COOM or -SO3M, etc.); M is alkali metal, ammonoium of amine; X is acetyl, benzoyl, p-toluenesulfonyl or 4-chloro-6-hydroxyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl], e.g. a compound expressed by formula V, as a recording agent. The above-mentioned dye is obtained by diazotizing an amine expressed by formula VI (Q<1> is phenyl, etc.), and coupling the resultant diazo compound with a naphthol expressed by formula VII. |
