PURPOSE:To provide a thermal recording material high in heat generating sensitivity and fastness and reduced in for generation, constituted by providing a thermal color forming layer containing an electron donating colorless dye, an electron receptive compound and a specific ether compound onto a support. CONSTITUTION:An electron donating colorless dye (e.g., Crystal Violet lactone), an electron receptive compound (e.g., bisphenol A), an ether compound represented by formula I or II (wherein X and Y are halogen, 6C or less alkyl or 6C or less alkoxy and R is H or 18C or less alkyl) in an amount of 10-200% by wt. of the electron receptive compound and a binder of which the solubility to water is 5% or more at 25 deg.C (e.g., CMC) are dispersed in water so as to bring an average volumetric particle size to 5mum or less to obtain a thermal coating solution. Subsequently this coating solution is applied to a support and dried to form a thermal recording layer. |
