In a drying apparatus with a box-shaped receiving housing for the material to be dried and a hot-air fan, there is provided, for using material which has been laid in to be dried, a receiving housing (1) provided with a horizontally mountable, circumferentially closed housing casing (2) which has, near the rear-end wall (8) provided with an air-passage opening (9), a hot-air fan (11,12) and, after this in the flow direction, an air-permeable transverse wall (20), and which receives a number of carriers (4) for goods to be dried, set at a distance and parallel one above the other, and which can also be closed by a cover engaging at least partially over the front end of the receiving housing (1). <IMAGE>
