PURPOSE:To obtain a raw material for producing a carbon material, by adding a solvent to a heavy oil, blending them to give an insoluble precipitate, separating and removing it by using a filtering material containing fibrous magnesium oxysulfate. CONSTITUTION:A heavy oil of coal or petroleum is blended with a solvent such as quinoline, tetrahydrofuran, acetone, toluene, etc. to give an insoluble precipitate. The precipitate is then separated and removed by using a filtering material containing fibrous magnesium oxysulfate (MOS). MOS is a compound shown by the formula MgSO4.5MgO.8H2O or MgSO4.5Mg(OH)2.3H2O, for example, it is prepared by dispersing magnesium oxide(hydroxide) into an aqueous solution of magnesium sulfate, reacting them under heating, etc. USE:A raw material for producing easily graphitazable coke, isotropic or anisotropic carbon, higher active carbon, carbon fiber, etc. |
