摘要 A continuously operating process for thermal metal production, in particular of light metals, is achieved. For this purpose, a rotary hearth furnace (13) is used which has a rotating annular furnace hearth (1) as a platform for the reaction material. The platform is tightly surrounded by an immovable wall, so that an interior chamber (43), which is evacuated or contains an inert gas, is formed between the platform and this wall. The interior chamber is divided around the circumference of the furnace hearth into individual zones (18, 36, 38, 19a) for feeding (18) the reaction material, for degassing and preheating (36) the reaction material, for taking off (38) the metal in the vapour phase and for discharging (19a) the solids of the reaction material. The working cycle takes place with one revolution of the furnace hearth (1). The condensation (34) of the metal vapour and the filling of the condensate into moulds takes place likewise continuously, filling being carried out by means of two parallel-connected, alternately open ports into moulds standing below these ports. As a result of the continuous working procedure, it is possible to work more rapidly and hence more economically. <IMAGE>
