METHOD FOR SEALING THERMOCOUPLE FOR MEASURING TEMPERATURE OF CASTING MOLD COPPER PLATE

PURPOSE:To prevent a thermocouple from contacting with the water intruding into a holder and to improve heat transmission efficiency by putting copper powder into the bottom of the recess of a casting mold copper plate then inserting a liquid packing material therein and curing the packing material after inserting the thermocouple. CONSTITUTION:The copper powder 8 is put into the recess 1A of the casting mold copper plate 1 and liquid silicone rubber 9 is poured into the recess 1A. The plate 1 is thereafter attached to an inside wall 4A of a water box and the thermocouple 2 is inserted into the holder 3. The top end of the thermocouple 2 contacts with the bottom wall of the recess 1A by passing through the rubber 9 and the inside of the copper powder 8. The rubber 9 cures upon lapse of time and the thermocouple 2 is thereby held in the packed state. The contact of the cooling water which intrudes into the holder 3 through the clearance generated between the copper plate 1 and an O-ring 6 with the thermocouple 2 is thus obviated during casting. The heat from the plate 1 is transmitted with high transmission efficiency to the thermocouple 2 by the copper powder 8.
