In a spinning or twisting machine having a spindle carrier which extends in the longitudinal direction of the machine and to which a plurality of spindle-bearing housings are attached next to one another in such a way that their mutual spacing is adjustable, there serves as spindle carrier a profile having at least one longitudinal side which extends in the longitudinal direction of the machine and to which the spindle-bearing housings arranged laterally next to the spindle carrier are flanged.
