The invention relates to indexing, on a geographical map, for example a roadmap, of a place for which a set of orthogonal coordinates are known. The invention proposes to this end a set of two graduated rulers, 10, 20 one of which, 20, movable, is mounted slidably along the other 10 so as to remain perpendicular to it, this movable ruler 20 having a transverse zero mark aligned with a longitudinal line, such as an edge, of the other ruler 10 forming a support.
