The invention relates to a device for the automatic or semi-automatic control of an engine and of a clutch of a motor vehicle by means of a clutch and engine control device and a device (transducer) for actuation of the engine control device and a device for actuation of the clutch control device. In order to permit a finely regulated starting of a motor vehicle, a shaft encoder determining the speed of the engine is provided, and in addition an engagement control device, which above a fixed engagement speed range increases the clutch torque from 0 to maximum, a drive condition sensing device for sensing drive parameters and an engine speed control device, which assigns various time-related engine speed curves within the engagement speed range to the drive parameter signals supplied by the drive condition sensing device and which controls the engine speed as a function of these signals and the assigned speed curve for the engagement process.
