The voltage drop across a series resistor in the main current feed to the plating bath is amplified and used to drive a d.c. instrument motor whose rotations represent an integration of the current. The motor drives a pulsing generator feeding a first counter which operates the control switch of a second counting circuit, and this in turn, controls the excitation of a positive displacement pump dispensing fresh electrolyte to the bath, so that it makes a number of strokes proportional to the total quantity of electricity supplied to the bath. Esp. for Cr, Rh, Au and Pt plating using insoluble anodes, the system ensures uniform plating density.
|
