The fireproof channel in the structural element comprises panels (3, 4, 5, 6) which consist of mineral wool, rest on the structural element (1) and are coated, at least on their surfaces (7, 7a, 7b) remote from the structural element (1), with a layer (9) which forms an insulating layer. Profile portions (14a, 14b) which can be brought into engagement with one another are formed on the mutually facing border portions (10a, 10b; 11a, 11b; 12a, 12b; 13a, 13b) of the panels (3, 4, 5, 6). The profile portions (14a, 14b) of the panels (3, 4, 5, 6) are adhesively bonded to one another, it being possible to use an insulating-layer former which has adhesive properties. <IMAGE>
