To adapt the comminution to the type of material and to the degree of comminution, the tools are designed as smooth or toothed cutting tools, toothed tearing tools, blunt-edged pinching tools or grooved grinding tools. Both the rotating hammers and the fixed strips on the inner casing on the processor can have these forms. Combinations of these tool forms are also possible, in such a way that cutting or tearing tools work at the start of the processing path and rubbing or grinding tools work at the end of the helical path. For conditioning the material during comminution, nozzles for the application of steam, water or binder are provided.
