Fire and oil resistant cable

The cable has improved flame/fire and oil/abrasion resistant properties. The cable is halogen free as the conductor insulation 4, 5, 6 and all sheaths 7, 10 are of the self-extinguishing type. A metal screen 8 braided with an angle between 35 DEG and 45 DEG over a vulcanised filler sheath 7 provides efficient protection of the cable conductors during fires. Outermost there is placed a thin oil and abrasion resistant extruded layer of Nylon 11. The sheath 7 comprises a material which releases its water of crystallisation at high temperatures e.g. Al2O3.3H2O. Electric and optical conductors (2.3) may be provided and covered with windings 4 of mica or glass fibres. A screen 6 of metal/polyester tape may be used and a winding of polyester tape 9.
