PURPOSE:To enable the prevention of abnormal black dots or the like by applying a voltage smaller than and the same in the polarity as the recording voltage to a recording needle left with no recording voltage applied thereto at least adjacent to any one while the recording voltage is being applied thereto. CONSTITUTION:When a block is selected from the group A or B, a recording voltage of Vs, for example, -280V is applied selectively to recording needles 1 of all blocks in the group A or B according to image information. At the same time, a voltage Vb smaller than and the same in the polarity as the recording voltage, for example, an auxiliary pulse of -150V allowing the recording of no electrostatic latent image is applied to all the recording needles in the group B or A and to all recording needles left with no recording voltage applied in the group A or B. Thus, the potential difference Vb-Vs becomes small enough to cause no discharge between the recording needles thereby preventing the generation of uneven recording density and abnormal black dots as well as a trouble of disabling black dot recording. This also enables stable recording of a pattern inverting from white to black one dot apart. |
