The electrical igniter (4) is mounted in a heavy metal tray (1) on a metal holder plate (3). The tray is attached to the pyrotechnic device by flexible metal lips (2). The igniter can be set off by externally supplied current, fed through input sockets. It can also be set off by the pressure wave caused by an adjacent explosion. The pressure wave passes through a perforated baseplate and lifts a thin copper sheet on which a small battery is mounted. The bottom contact of the battery is connected to the earthed copper sheet. When the battery top contact comes into contact with the underside of the holder plate (3) the igniter is activated.
