PURPOSE:To make it possible to rapidly heat the device, machineries and tools up to a desired temperature by carrying out heating and preparation steps by use of a latent heat type accumulating agent in the heating device in which an exothermic reaction when a matallic hydride occludes hydrogen is utilized. CONSTITUTION:A heater 1 is filled with a first metallic hydride (MH1) and a sealed vessel 3 is filled with a second hydride (MH2), and the heater 1 and the sealed vessel 3 are communicated with each other by a hydrogen flowing valve 4. When the hydrogen flowing valve 4 is opened starting the engine of an automobile in the heating step using water for cooling the engine of the automobile, the second metallic hydride MH2 discharges while robbing heat of the heat accumulating agent, and the first metallic hydride MH1 occludes hydrogen and generates heat to heat suction air within a suction air supply pipe and accumulate heat. When the temperature of suction air is increased after the engine reaches an ordinary operating state, the first metallic hydride MH1 contained in the heater discharges hydrogen and the second metallic hydride occludes the discharged hydrogen, and heats the heat accumulating agent to accumulate heat. Thereafter, when the hydrogen flowing valve is closed, it is made possible to prepare for the next engine starting. |
