PURPOSE:To reduce the number of errors of a magnetic device by providing a means for detecting the travelling distance of a medium, and when the traveling distance reaches a prescribed value, starting a cleaning means to execute cleaning. CONSTITUTION:A capstan tachometer 3 is fitted to a capstan roller 2, and if a counter is set up to e.g. 300,000, the tachometer 3 outputs a signal every 600 revolutions of the capstan roller 2 and inputs the signal to an AND circuit 7. A signal indicating the end of blocking of information recorded in a magnetic tape is also inputted to the AND circuit 7. When the capstan roller 2 rotates 600 times and ends information blocking, the AND circuit 7 outputs a signal to acturate a driving circuit and the cleaning means 5. Consequently, the number of errors of the magnetic device is reduced. |
