A DC/DC converter having a non-pulsating input and output current, which consists of the cascade connection of a pile-up converter and a forward converter. A single power switch (T), which is connected in series with the primary winding of the isolating transformer (Tr) and whose electrode (collector) which is connected to the isolating transformer (Tr) is connected to the input inductor via a rectifier diode (D2), is used for control. When the power switch (T) is not conducting, the capacitor (C1) of the pile-up converter section is charged up to the input voltage (Ue), via the input inductor (L1). While the power switch (T) is conducting, the capacitor (C1) discharges via the primary winding of the isolating transformer (Tr); at the same time, the input inductor (L1) is connected via the rectifier diode (D2) and the switching path of the power switch (T) to the input voltage (Ue). <IMAGE>
