PURPOSE:To increase the life of a battery by decreasing the migration of a zinc active material and the deformation of zinc by providing the upper and the lower sides of a current collector with perforated areas. CONSTITUTION:A belt-like zinc electrode is made by forming active material layers on both surfaces of a current collector and used after being rolled into a spiral form. The current collector has in its central area a nonperforated area 2 having a width 1/3 to 2/8 of the width of the current collector. It also has perforated areas 1 having a porosity of 25-50% and a width 1/6 to 1/3 of the width of the current collector on the upper and the lower sides of the nonperforated area 2. Owing to the above constitution, the active material layers attaching to the nonperforated area 2 and those attaching to the perforated areas 1 support each other and the active material layers attaching to the nonperforated area 2 suppress the migration through the current collector of the active material layers attaching to the perforated areas 1. In addition, the active material layers attaching to the perforated areas 1 suppress the separation of the active material attaching to the nonperforated area 2. |
