<p>PURPOSE:To shorten the time for paper jam processing and next copy preparations and to secure the safety of an operator by providing a hook means which hooks a fixing shell to an upper housing and putting the hook means in operation only when detecting a paper jam occurring at a fixing part by utilizing a paper jam detecting means. CONSTITUTION:If a paper jam occurs at the fixing part 37, a solenoid 55 operates with its detection signal, and a lever 57 moves and is locked by the projection part 60 of the fixing shell 46; when the upper housing 32 is opened by the operator, the fixing shell 36 is opened together. Fixing rollers 44 and 45 are released from being pressed against each other at this time, paper jam processing is easily carried out without touching the fixing shell 46. If a paper jam occurs except at the fixing part 37, on the other hand, the solenoid 55 does not operate, so the fixing shell 46 is not opened when the upper housing 32 is opened, so that paper jam processing is easily carried out without being impeded by the fixing shell 46 nor touching the fixing shell 46. Consequently, the time for paper jam processing and next copy preparations is shortened and the safety of the operator is secured.</p> |
