PURPOSE:To prevent a suspending toner from attaching to a fixing roll, and also heat loss by covering a pair of fixing rolls and installing a normally closed gate for passing a copying paper. CONSTITUTION:When a copying paper 15 having a nonfixed toner image approaches a fixing device and its end is detected with a sensor 23, the pivot of a normally closed gate 18 is turned with a driving source in reply to its signal, the gate 18 is opened and acts as a guiding plate for the paper 15. It passes from the plate 18 through an opening 16 and between a fixing roll 5 and a pressing roll 6, and the nonfixed toner is fused and fixed. When the rear end of the paper 15 passes over the sensor 23, said pivot turns reversely with the driving source in reply to this signal, the gate 18 and the opening 16 are closed. As a result, the suspending toner does not attach to the surfaces of the roll 5, etc. |
