<p>PURPOSE:To improve the quality of picture by transmitting a code while forming an amplitude of a forecast error relating to a chrominance signal to the same degree as that of a forecast error of a luminance signal to eliminate false color noise. CONSTITUTION:A luminance signal Y and chrominance signals C1, C2 from input terminals 101, 102 and 103 are given to a time division multiplex circuit 1, where they are multiplexed and outputted to a subtraction circuit 2. The circuit 2 subtracts an output of a forecast circuit 3 from an output of the circuit 1 and outputs a forecast error to a chrominance signal difference expanding circuit 4. The circuit 4 passes a Y signal component among the outputs, expands the value of the chrominance signals C1, C2 only and outputs the result to a difference suppression circuit 5. The circuit 5 receiving the result controls the value in response to a storage amount of a buffer memory 8. Then the result is inputted to the memory 8 through a quantizing circuit 6 and a variable length coding circuit 7. The memory 8 stores once the variable length code supplied from the circuit 7, reads it in a prescribed transmission speed and after the code is converted into, e.g., an AMI code, the result is transmitted to the reception side via an output terminal 104.</p> |
