<p>A device for sorting a multiplicity of items according to their size has a frame (1) in which a cylindrical sorter drum (13) is rotatably mounted. A plurality of sorting mechanisms (18, 19) and arranged in rows on the wall of the drum (13) in a circumferential direction. Each sorting mechanisms (18, 19) has a slit (30) defining in the cylindrical wall a tongue (34) the free end of which is displaced outwards from the drum wall, and a guide body (38) having a holder plate (35) held against the tongue (34) and a pair of slide webs (36, 37) on opposite side edges of the holder plate (35) and fitted in the said slit (30). The edges of holder plate (35) and the slide webs (36, 37) projecting outwards from the drum wall to define an opening (40, 41) in the drum wall. A motor (15) is arranged to rotate the sorter drum (13) to cause the items of a particular size to be discharged through said openings (40, 41) out of said sorter drum (13). </p> |
