PURPOSE:To prepare a prepolymerized catalyst which enables a propylene polymer excellent in the transparency and physical properties to be produced at a high yield by prepolymerizing an alpha-olefin and 3-methyl-1-butene in the presence of a catalyst component comprising a specific solid titanium catalyst component, an organoaluminum compd., and an electron donor. CONSTITUTION:In the presence of an olefin polymn. catalyst which comprises a solid titanium catalyst component essentially contg. Mg, Ti, a halogen, and an electron donor and pref. having a ratio of the number of atoms of the halogen/Ti and Mg/Ti of 5-100 and 2-50, respectively, and molar ratio of the electron donor/Ti of 0.2-6, an organoaluminum catalyst component, and, if necessary, an electron donor and which contains 0.1-300g of 2-5C linear olefin polymer units and 0.1-100g of 3-methyl-1-butene polymer units per g of the solid component, a 2-5C linear alpha-olefin and 3-methyl-1-butene are each prepolymerized to give a prepolymerized catalyst component for olefin polymn.
