PURPOSE:To project an image on on-line basis by utlizing the transmission characteristics of liquid-crystal and projecting the image on the surface of the liquid crystal upon a screen. CONSTITUTION:A liquid-crystal panel 3 for image formation is provided in addition to a light source 1, lenses 2 and 4, and the screen 5. The panel 3 employs a TN system basically and sandwiched between polarizing plates 7 and 8. The panel is constituted by sandwiching liquid-crystal material between glass plates and utilized as a liquid-crystal shutter by applying a voltage and controlling the transmittivity. A color filter 6 is for color image reproduction, and provided either on the internal surface of the panel or at the light source side. An optical system consists simply of the lamp light source, lenses, and screen, and the panel is originally very thin, so compact constitution is realized. |
