PURPOSE:To manufacture a V3Ga superconductor with a high critical magnetic field and superior critical current density in a strong magnetic field by sticking pure Ga to the surface of a composite molded body consisting of a core of pure V or a V-Ga alloy and a Cu alloy contg. one or more among Mg, Na, Al and Ce followed by heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:A Cu alloy with low alloy concn. and high workability is first prepared by adding <=5 atomic% in total of one more among 0.05-5 atomic% Mg, 0.05-5 atomic% Na, 0.5-5 atomic% Al and 0.1-5 atomic% Ce to Cu. A composite body is obtd. using the Cu alloy as a matrix and pure V or a V-Ga alloy contg. 0.5-10 atomic% Ga, and it is worked into the desired form. Pure Ga is then stuck to the surface of the worked material by plating or other method and heat treated to form a V3Ga layer contg. a small amount of the added elements and having improved characteristics in a strong magnetic field on the interface of the composite body. Thus, the desired V3Ga superconductor is manufactured. |
