PURPOSE:To keep always an edging device within a safety range by setting rolls so that a load burdened on the vertical rolls of edging device coincides with a reference value and converting the amount of load variation into a position of vertical roll corresponding to it and transferring the roll position, in a three- point restricting-type edging device. CONSTITUTION:Three point rolls are set so that a load burdened on the vertical rolls of edging device coincides with a reference value P0. A variating load DELTAP with respect to the reference value P0 of vertical roll 46 is computed by a comparison arithmetic device 6 to compute a variation amount DELTAS with respect to a reference position S by an arithmetic device 8. A rolling reduction cylinder 5 is actuated by the amount DELTAS to make always the load of vertical rolls coincide with the reference value P0 thereby keeping always the edging device within a safety range.
