PURPOSE:To generate a fundamental taste electrically to synthesize the taste, by generating a voltage output corresponding to a taste potential curve for a salty taste and bitter taste, and combining voltage outputs corresponding to the respective taste potential curves of the salty taste and bitter taste for a sweet taste and acid taste. CONSTITUTION:Potential curves of a tasting substance are expressed by formula I for a salty taste, formula II for a bitter taste, formula III for a sweet taste and formula IV for an acid taste [tau1=(CR)1, tau2=(CR)2, tau3=(CR)3 and tau4= (CR)4]. Voltage wavy forms expressed by the respective formulas are conversely prepared and applied to a human lingual papilla. The same tastes are obtained for the salty taste and bitter taste, but the same tastes are not obtained for the sweet taste and acid taste. A voltage of the wavy form shown in the figure is applied to the human lingual papilla to feel the bitter taste in the curve (a b), sweet taste at the beginning of the curve (b c) and salty taste thereafter. In case the rise is gentle, the taste becomes the sweet taste. In case the rise is steep, the taste becomes the acid taste. Thus, voltages (V1) and (V2) of wavy form given by formulas I and II are alone or in combination are repeated periodically at a given time interval to synthesize electrically the taste.
