摘要 In order to overcome the increasing difficulties in penetrating modern compartmentalised armour using mass projectiles or large-calibre shaped charges, and as a result of the decreasing effectiveness of shaped charges as a result of the change to fuel tanks which are resistant to shaped charges, a new munition is proposed which consists of the combination of a shaped charge with a hollow ellipsoid which is completely or partially filled with explosive and by means of which a high level of energy focusing is possible, which does not require a high impact speed in order to achieve the desired effect on the target and in consequence can attack the armoured vehicle well from the weakly protected top. Figure 1 shows a typical design. A shaped charge (2), whose object is to perforate the armour, is accommodated in the front part of an aerodynamically clad projectile. The hollow ellipsoid (1), which is arranged behind the shaped charge (2) and is filled with explosive, is detonated at the focus point F1 as a function of the projectile speed so that the maximum energy focusing occurs at F2 at the time when F2 is seated on the armour, on the perforation point (5) made by the shaped-charge jet. <IMAGE>
